Another lost opportunity for Enea Bastianini in Italy. While he seemed in great shape during the Sprint, he made contact with Jorge Martin in the first corner, just after trying to overtake him. Starting from fifth position, “Bestia” was unable to do anything to avoid the fall, which, once again, doesn't help his case in the Ducati case even if it is impossible to attribute all the blame to him.
A Sprint finished in the gravel trap at the San Donato bend. Enea Bastianini has it bad, and rightly so. « I didn't see much, but I felt it! It's a shame, because I was fast. I wanted to overtake Jorge Martin because I saw that he was a little on the limit, but he acted as if I wasn't there." declared the official Ducati rider at the microphones of GP One.
A dream start followed by a premature end to @ Bestia23's #TissotSprint on home soil 💔

From the footage, it seems clear that it was a racing incident, which is also Bastianini's theory... though. « According to the footage on TV, it was a racing incident.. but we should see the images from a photographer at the side of the track that I saw… For the moment, I have not gone to see the race management. I don't think this deserved a penalty, but it was still borderline » he added. There are reasons to be furious, and we can perfectly understand a lack of objectivity on his part.
A hell of a chance wasted, again in his own words: “The start was really good. It's difficult to imagine my position at the finish since I fell, but I think there was a way to fight with Pecco Bagnaia for the victory. » Already, he seems focused on the Sunday race: “I fell, now I’m moving on to something else. I have always done better in the long races, so I hope to do better tomorrow,” he concluded.
