Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez's team boss Frankie Carchedi has explained the mysterious smoke coming from the Ducati during the Italian Grand Prix. Marquez, who drives for the Gresini team, missed out on the podium on Sunday at Mugello after a brilliant performance from Enea Bastianini. On his momentum, Bastianini overtook Marquez and Jorge Martin to move from fourth to second place, behind winner Pecco Bagnaia.

Questioned by TNT Sports relayed by crash.net about what didn't work, Carchedi found : " our strong point was always at the exit outside the last corner. Even during the preparation, I saw a lot of things. There was a little smoke. Marc changed his line, so he went over a very big bump to try to get out as quickly as possible. Where did this smoke come from? It was nothing more than that, just trying to gain momentum. Unfortunately, he was unable to overtake Enea. On the front tire the temperatures were super high »

Jorge Lorenzo (almost) said what many think: if Ducati hasn't announced its rider, that's why Marc Marquez chose

Marc Marquez: “ this is one of the points where we go to the limit with the GP23 »

Carchedi then summarized the race Marquez in Mugello as being suitable. He obtained good points and took the advantage on a track which is not one of his best. “ He was just happy to be competitive all weekend" , he added.

Marc Marquez also gave his explanation: “ This is one of the points where we go to the limit with the GP23. With the rear level correction device, on the GP23, we have less space, it goes down a little less and we always push it to the limit. But I didn't feel it at any time. Yes, the tire felt it, actually, just a little bit, a piece of tire came off. I think it's because of overheating, but hey, it did not affect performance »

This race at Mugello has been full of twists and turns, but despite the challenges, Marquez showed remarkable determination and competitiveness throughout the weekend with his GP23: “ I fight with the best and my goal is to fight with the best Ducati no matter what I have » concludes the eight-time World Champion. He now has 136 points General classification where he points third. He is 35 points behind the leader Martin and 17 points on bagnaia.
