Italy

The 2025 Italian Grand Prix opened with an explosive Friday at Mugello, with Maverick “Top Gun” Viñales stealing the show. With a blistering time of 1:44.634 on his KTM RC16, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider blew everyone away, snatching first place from Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) by just 0,110 seconds. The Italian, a three-time and reigning Mugello winner, held his own, while his teammate Marc Marquez, the championship leader, secured third place, ensuring a strong top three finish for Ducati. But beware, Yamaha and Aprilia are joining the party in style.

From the first minutes, Peter Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) had set the tone for the prequalifying, leading the dance before a drama shook the paddock: fabio quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) crashed violently at Turn 4, partially dislocating his left shoulder. But "El Diablo" didn't admit defeat. Back on his feet, he returned to the track and set an impressive time, taking 5th place. What a mentality! Meanwhile, Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha) fell without serious consequences in the last corner, but remained in the top 10 with 22 minutes remaining.

When the soft tires Michelin came into play, it was to better ignite the session. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46) and Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) shook up the standings, but it was Raul fernandez (TrackHouse MotoGP Team) who briefly took the lead, before bagnaia does not respond with a 1'45.324. Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and Acosta were following, then Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) had a lightning lap to take the lead… until Marc Marquez replies with a 1'45.044!

Four minutes from the end, Alex Marquez sent heavy with a 1'44.787, but bagnaia responded immediately. And then, Casa Particular in Viñales emerged in sector 3, smashing the clock and taking the lead 30 seconds from the checkered flag. Marc Marquez held one last attack, but remains at 0,146 seconds.
