Marc Marquez made history by securing his 100th career pole position in qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix, round 9 of the 2025 MotoGP™ at Mugello. With a record time of 1:44.169, he finished 0.059s ahead of teammate Francesco Bagnaia and 0.083s ahead of his brother Alex Marquez (Gresini Ducati), forming an all-Ducati front row.
Marc Marquez conquered pole position in the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, ninth round of the MotoGP calendar, by achieving a stunning lap in 1'44.169. The pilot Ducati was just 59 thousandths ahead of his teammate Pecco Bagnaia, author of his best qualification of the season, and visibly back on home soil.
This pole at Mugello is the third for Marquez on this circuit (after 2014 and 2019), the sixth of his season, the 72nd of his career in MotoGP, and above all the hundredth of his career in all categories combined. It is also the eighth with Ducati, who seems more than ever in harmony with the Spanish champion.
On the first line, Alex Marquez completes the picture by coming in 83 thousandths behind his brother, confirming the clan's excellent form Marquez on the Tuscan route.
Fabio Quartararo impresses in Italy despite pain
fabio quartararo performed remarkably. Less than 24 hours after a fall and a partial dislocation of the left shoulder, the Frenchman climbed to fourth place on the grid. A performance all the more remarkable given that he had to deal with pain. He will share the second row with Maverick Vinales (KTM Tech3) and Franco Morbidelli (Ducati VR46 Racing Team), both of whom set solid fast laps.
In the third line, Fabio DiGiannantonio confirms the team's good progress VR46. He is ahead Peter Acosta, still as incisive, and alex rins, pilot Yamaha , who could nevertheless be sanctioned for having obstructed Marc Marquez in the first bend of San Donato.
Marco Bezzecchi, only tenth, will start from the fourth row. If theAprilia RS-GP 25 shows signs of competitiveness, it still has room for improvement in the fast lap exercise. It will be accompanied by Raul Fernandez, his teammate at Aprilia TrackHouseand of Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini Ducati), making progress for his rookie season.
Among those who did not make it past Q1 were Jack Miller (13th), Johann zarco (14th), Brad Binder (15th), Enea Bastianini (16th), Miguel Oliveira (17th), Joan Mir (18th), Takaaki Nakagami (19th), Lorenzo Savadori (20th), Ai Ogura (21st) and Somkiat Chantra (22nd).
The Grand Prix promises to be electric at Mugello, with a fratricidal duel between Ducati official, a Quarterly vengeful and sharp outsiders. The battle promises to be as beautiful as it is unpredictable in this Sprint. Before diving in, here's the table that summarizes the facts known so far.
