Jack Miller

Jack Miller ends his time with Ducati which will remain an important step in his career and heads to KTM which was the brand of his debut. The Australian was then a fiery, frail young man twisting one of the Austrian 250cc motorcycles whose single cylinder developed 50 hp. Then Honda came to pick it up and plant it on one of the 213 hp RC270Vs. Another world which required more muscle and an ascetic life which was not really in the nature of the 3 Moto2014 world vice-champion. But fortunately, there was Cal Crutchlow who took him under his wing and above all in hand…

Coming full circle by returning in 2023 to the fairing color of its beginnings, Jack Miller, during his last WDW in Misano paid tribute to a former pilot Honda today Yamaha test pilot, Cal Crutchlow. And for good reason: he owes him a lot, first of all the fact of having transformed into a MotoGP rider. He says on speedweek : " When I think back to where I was in 2015 and how fit I am now, I'm convinced that I became one of the fittest guys on the grid ».

He adds : " I don't want to pretend that I like my training, because no one always does. But you saw the result, for example, this year in the race at the Sachsenring. At 36 degrees, it was perhaps one of the toughest races of my career. But I felt good from A to Z. And if you pass such a hot race, then you are well prepared for all other competitions ».

Jack Miller: “Cal Crutchlow m’a beaucoup aidé"

Certainly, but it didn't happen alone. The Australian remembers: “ At 19, in Moto3, I only raced, but only to be able to maintain my weight. It was all about body weight. I can say that my weight hasn't changed much since then, but my body shape has changed. The extra muscles made me a little heavier, but the difference is minimal ».

Jack Miller also had a ruthless coach, who was none other than his first teammate: “ I benefited from having found a teammate like Cal Crutchlow at LCR who trained a lot and helped me a lot in this area. He clearly explained to me what you need to invest in this environment if you want to succeed in MotoGP. I quickly understood that ". He finishes : " it just took me a season to understand that it couldn't continue like this and that MotoGP is a full-time job ". It will be noted that Jack Miller don't forget those he encountered in his career. Last year he had paid tribute to Danilo Petrucci, also one of his former teammates, who said goodbye to MotoGP.
