Those who thought that having eight Ducatis on the track in a MotoGP race was too much, will truly suffer martyrdom in 2023. Indeed, there will also be an entire starting grid of Ducatis in the MotoE category. . Next season will thus be year 1 for the Borgo Panigale firm as sole supplier of a discipline included in the program of a Grand Prix. The Italians arrive with a project that started almost from a blank sheet. But from what is being said, it would already be very promising...

It is called V21L and without noise it should spark. This is in fact the name of the MotoE developed by Ducati which will thus replace its compatriot Energica in a category which allows, at the very least, the paddock, to be in phase with the political correctness of its time. For the Borgo Panigale firm, this is a new adventure and a new page in its history that will be written. In fact, it has never before produced a machine powered by a battery.

But listening to certain comments on the development of this motorcycle, there is reason to wait with curiosity for the first test which will take place from May 12 to 14 in France. And to find out more, you have to read Randy Krummenacher on motorcyclesport. The latter will discover the joys of electric motorcycles next year: “ I heard that the Ducati weighed about 40 kg less than the previous MotoE, which weighed around 260 kg » says the former Supersport World Champion. « The battery will be more compact, we will therefore not do more laps than in the past.”

Ducati will attach great importance to MotoE

He adds : “Mattia Casadei told me that Ducati test riders Michele Pirro and Alex De Angelis had already done 1'40 laps at Misano, three seconds less than this year's times ". And he ends: “Ducati still has potential with this prototype, which can therefore be even faster ».

Krummenacher is as certain of the added value as Ducati will bring to MotoE: “ yes, I am convinced that Ducati will attach great importance to MotoE ». On the other hand, his interest seems less obvious... “I can't live completely without noise. I wanted to compete in CIV Superbike and make some noise, but too many circumstances did not allow me to do so ».
