Marco Bezzecchi is as hot as the embers in Japan! The Italian, currently one of the strongest on the board, has been the talk of the town, for good and bad reasons. On the downside, he crashed twice in one morning, which isn't great for building confidence. Added to Jorge Martin's two mistakes today, the mechanics probably didn't have much respite. On the other hand, the factory Aprilia rider managed to climb to first place at the end of Practice, an excellent result that makes him one of the favorites for pole position.
Bezzecchi felt a little guilty about having given his teammates so much work at the start of this GP. « The day could have started better. My mistakes were unnecessary, but I had a good feeling on the bike from the start, so I attacked. The first crash, in particular, was pointless. I went too far and still spun, even though the track wasn't designed for that at that point. I also feel sorry for the mechanics; the bike was badly damaged and the technical team missed lunch to repair it." could be read in the columns of speedweek.

To make up for it, he promised a round of drinks for everyone that evening! This also shows how friendly the atmosphere is in the Aprilia box. “A round of beer for the team is on us tonight!” he added jokingly.

Then, in the afternoon – this morning at our place – Bezzecchi revealed himself, with a first position in the important Practice. “I immediately found the feeling with the bike again; it was greatI also started the fast laps with the worn medium tires. The feeling with the bike was excellent, but the wear at Motegi – with both compounds – is very significant, and we still need to find a solution to extend the performance of the tires » he concluded.
