We cannot judge on a single session, even if it is unusually 75 minutes long, but what is taken is no longer to be taken and Luca marini ranked fifth in practice for the Japanese Grand Prix on the Motegi circuit after the only dry session scheduled.

A great move achieved by the leading rider of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team in the very last moments of the session, on the Japanese track of the Twin Ring of Motegi which he had never ridden on a MotoGP!

Fifth, only a tenth from the provisional poleman, the brother of Valentino Rossi worked to adapt as quickly as possible to the demanding Japanese track, very typical on/off, before taking a good step forward in the last run of the day by setting a time of 1'44.645. A time which means momentary access to Q2 on the eve of the only other session counting for direct passage to Q2, also expected in the rain.

Suffice to say that, if this is indeed the case, the native of Urbino almost has his passport in hand to appear on the first four rows of the grid in order to try to perpetuate the good trend in which he currently appears.

Luca marini : " I am very satisfied with this first session at Motegi. I didn't expect to be immediately there with the very first, only a tenth from P1, for my first time in MotoGP. There's definitely a lot to do, it's been three years since we raced here and we've made big improvements in terms of electronics and tires in recent seasons. Let's try to figure out where to work, what to do for a new jump and improve for the race. The weather will be crucial: if it doesn't rain, we will be able to continue working more easily for the race. »

Paul Grandson : " I'm happy with Luca's start on a very demanding circuit like this. He continued his momentum and managed the 75-minute session well. Hopefully good weather for tomorrow, which would be very helpful in being able to continue working in dry conditions. »
