Franco Morbidelli is a Moto2 World Champion who is in his second year in MotoGP. A CV which allowed him to think that he would be the star of the new Petronas Yamaha team. But now, Fabio Quartararo has unpinned and showcased his talent. Inevitably, the Italian found himself in the blast zone as the side consequence of choice. But Valentino Rossi's protégé did not explode. He keeps a cool head, his feet on the ground and while he is in front of his teammate on the grid for the Japanese Grand Prix, he takes stock of this situation…

Did you know ? Franco Morbidelli is a gentleman. First victim of the revelation of fabio quartararo he comments, humble and objective: “ I had never been dominated by my teammate in five years of the world championship. But there is always a first time, I will have to learn from this experience. I live it as it should be. I'm certainly not happy, but I don't despair, I try to be objective, lucid. I look at his data to understand what he is doing and, at the same time, I try to improve in general, to raise the level. Fabio has a higher level than me, I have to work hard to get there. »

A dynamic that even goes beyond the box Petronas. It even shines on the factory Yamaha  : " I think the Yamaha's return to form is a combination of two things. One is Fabio because he comes in and he shows that it's possible to do fantastic things with this bike, and that it's possible to be incredibly fast. So I think it gave good motivation to all the Yamaha riders to progress. And of course on top of that, Yamaha has improved the package. So all this allows all Yamaha riders to be much better in the rankings. »

Even while commenting on his good performance at the end of the Motegi qualifications, Morbidely insists on the French: “ I think beating Fabio on a timed lap is one of the most difficult things in the world. Because he is incredibly fast and he can put out a timed lap as easily as he drinks water. So I'm very happy with that! »
