The Italian rider arrives in Japan confident, with the desire to continue to reap the fruits of the work put in by him and his team, Yamaha Petronas.

Franco Morbidelli has been in a positive spiral for some time and clearly wants to continue its momentum during this Asian tour. Forgotten the incident of the first round in Aragon, where Álex Rins involuntarily caused him to fall, the Italian is motivated to maintain the consistency acquired since Misano. With two top 5s at Silverstone and Misano and a sixth place in Buriram, the lights are green.

“My goal for the end of the season is to continue in the same way we have worked so far, putting in strong race weekends and progressing where we can in order to take a step forward.” he explained.

The lights are all the more green as the Japanese track, on which he is about to ride, has always been successful for him in the past. Seventh in his first season in Moto2, he scored a podium there, in addition to another top 10, and achieved one of his best results last year.

“Motegi is a very important weekend, and we have to try to achieve a good result for Yamaha, who are at home,” he continued. “I have great memories here, I've been on the podium before, and I love the track and Japan in general. It's a particular route which is quite tricky, but it suits me well. »

However, and as he was the victim in Spain, he knows that nothing is certain and that he must be careful, which he will do this weekend: “MotoGP is a category where anything can happen, but Yamaha has been in a positive phase since Silverstone, so let's hope we can continue that in the overseas races. »
