The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports are obliged to announce changes to the Friday timetable for the Japanese Grand Prix.

Due to the logistical challenges posed by staging the Grand Prix back-to-back with the Aragón Grand Prix, as well as potential delays caused by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and its effect on airspace, it was decided not to not organize test sessions for the Grand Prix, MotoGP™, Moto2™ and Moto3™ categories on Friday morning.

Instead, FP1 Moto3™ will start at 13:15 p.m. local time, Moto2™ at 14:10 p.m. and MotoGP™ at 15:05 p.m. This unique MotoGP™ FP1 session which will now take place on Friday afternoon has been extended from 45 to 75 minutes. This time extension only concerns the premier category.

Combined results for entry into Q1 and Q2 will be taken from FP1 and FP2 for all Grand Prix categories.

Fan activities will be planned with the Grand Prix riders on Friday morning, giving fans at the circuit a chance to interact with their heroes as MotoGP™ returns to Japan for the first time since 2019.

There will also be action on track at Mobility Resort Motegi from 9:00 a.m. local time on Friday, as the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup kicks off the race weekend with FP1, FP2 and qualifying for their third round of 2022 .

After three years of absence, the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship is eager to return to racing in Japan; on the grounds of several MotoGP™ factories and in front of one of the most passionate and dedicated audiences on our calendar.
