It has recently become official: Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo will be teammates in the new SIC Yamaha-Petronas team in MotoGP next year. If this choice of drivers may be surprising, Lin Jarvis justifies it, as reported Tutto Motori.

The team manager of the official Yamaha team, Lin Jarvis, returned to the announcement of the riders who will occupy the two positions of the SIC Yamaha-Petronas team next year. The choice of two young riders like Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo is widely commented on, even criticized and sometimes misunderstood given the important role of experienced riders in the development of motorcycles. The team decided to give it up by only taking young talents.

On the one hand, there is Franco Morbidelli, who is making his debut in the premier category this year and who will only be starting his second season when he joins the ranks of the team. A fairly thin experience, but made up for by two important elements that Lin Jarvis highlighted. First of all, his machine will probably be the same as that of his mentor Valentino Rossi, in the official team, and Jarvis is counting on a working osmosis between the two drivers. Then, he relies heavily on the talent of Morbidelli, reigning Moto2 World Champion: “For me Franco is certainly one of the talents who will occupy the front line in the future. »

On the other hand, there is Fabio Quartararo, nineteen years old, who has been competing in Moto2 for two years. After a rather complicated season, the Frenchman revealed himself this year by winning his first victory in the category at the Barcelona Grand Prix, and following up two weeks later with another podium at Assen. In full light since then, the announcement of his rise to the premier category next year has been widely commented on, but Jarvis does not see " no reason " not to make it rise. Like Hafizh Syahrin, whose potential was called into question at the start of the season, it is certain that the Frenchman will be able to show his talent: “It’s a light bike for beginners. Fabio will not need the latest modifications. He will have to have a good season, learn and progress. »
