In a fraction of a second, during the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez which opened the 2020 MotoGP season, the championship completely changed its appearance.

It is indeed obvious, and the curves show us, that Marc Márquez, even if he had not been able to prevent Fabio Quartararo from achieving a new pole position on the Andalusian track, was in the race a tone above all the world.

With a best lap in the race in 1'38.372 compared to 1'38.549 for Fabio Quartararo and 1'38.445 for Maverick Viñales, but above all 14 laps in 1'38 compared to 12 for the winner and only 5 for the second, Marc Márquez largely dominated all his opponents and we could have headed, once again, towards a title race already written in advance for the benefit of the Tokyo firm.

But Marc Márquez remains Marc Márquez, that is to say a man of panache and the opposite of a grocer. He could undoubtedly have scored big points during this first round of the world championship, which would have already been good given his winter operation and the difficulties encountered by the RC213V during the off-season tests.

But no ! Márquez gives everything, all the time, and it's not his incredible comeback after a first mistake during the 5th lap that will contradict us.

Usually, it passes or, at worst, the Honda rider, who seems to be made of rubber, experiences a fall from which he recovers instantly.

This time, this is unfortunately not the case and number 93 will experience several blank results.

This obviously completely transfigures the appearance of a championship already disrupted for the health reasons that you know about, and offers Fabio Quartararo, Maverick Viñales, Andrea Dovizioso and others an additional chance that should not be missed.

But beware ! The title race will take place this year over 13 stages, with the possibility of seeing two more, so although Marc Márquez will certainly miss the Andalusian Grand Prix at the Jerez circuit at the end of the week, he is far away for having lost any chance of winning his ninth crown!
