Here we are at the Andalusian Grand Prix, a week after the Spanish Grand Prix which took place on the same Jerez track. A duplicate which will be the specificity of this season which takes place while the world is in the middle of a pandemic. The scenario, for the moment, is the same, with Fabio Quartararo in pole position. He won last Sunday. Will the Frenchman achieve a resounding double? Vinales certainly doesn't see it that way with the other Yamaha but in official colors, while we expect more from the Ducati. In ambush, finally, we see a Valentino Rossi, fourth…

Before going further on the forces involved, here is the table which refreshes our memory in the middle of the Andalusian heatwave. We notice the absence of Marc Marquez, and for good reason…

This is the third consecutive pole of fabio quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) at Jerez in MotoGP. A series which began during the Spanish Grand Prix in 2019. With five poles in a row for Yamaha, it is the first time that the tuning fork brand has achieved such a series since 2010 (five times in a row, from Silverstone at Laguna Seca with Jorge Lorenzo).

fabio quartararo is the only French driver behind Christian Sarron who will start at the head of the premier category for the fourth successive time. Sarron has yet one more to his credit, it was during the year 1988, from the Austrian GP to that of France.

At 21 years and 97 days, if Quarterly wins the race this weekend, he will become the second youngest driver to achieve two victories in quick succession, behind Marc Marquez who accomplished this feat at 20 years and 154 days (2013 German/USA GP).

This is the very first time that Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda Team) will not start a race since Valencia in 2011. At the time, the young Catalan was still racing in Moto2.

Despite the cancellation of his time lap, Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) will start from second position on the starting grid. This is his best qualifying result since the Malaysian Grand Prix last year where he went for victory.

Francis Bagnaia (Pramac Racing), will be third and best Ducati representative (remember that he was already last week). He had never been on the front row in MotoGP before. His goal is to get on his first podium in the big leagues.

The most successful driver in the premier category at Jerez with seven wins to his name is Valentino Rossi (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP). Despite his retirement from the Spanish Grand Prix, the Italian achieved the fourth fastest time. This is the Tavullia driver's best result since the Australian GP in 2019. Note that he had not done better on the Andalusian track since his last pole (and victory) in 2016.

Miguel Oliveira escaped from Q1 for the first time since joining the category. Author of the fifth fastest time in Q2, he achieved his best result in qualifying, while becoming the first Portuguese driver to achieve such a good place. And, the icing on the cake for the representative of the Red Bull KTM Tech 3 satellite team, he concluded the day in the lead of the KTM riders.

Jack Miller, credited with the seventh time in Andalusia, will not appear on the first two lines. This is his worst place since the Phillip Island GP last year where he started from ninth position, before securing the podium in the race.

The new technique is that all Yamaha riders are equipped with a new engine. There is a concern for the Iwata brand which has significantly reduced its engine allocation. Vinales is at 5/5, Rossi, Morbidelli and Quartararo at 4/5…

It's 36,6° in the air and 59,1° on the track.

It's 25 laps and it's Quartararo who comes out in the lead at the end of the first turn in front of Viñales and Rossi. Miller and Bagnaia make up the top 1. Oliveira, Smith and Binder make mistakes and end up on the mat.

It's a tough battle between Viñales who tries an offensive on Fabio, in vain, Rossi goes 2nd

Behind, Viñales is followed by Miller who puts pressure on him, Bagnaia is in 5th place.

Fabio is making the effort. He laps in 1.38.119s, Rossi stops the rest of the troops.

Attack by Viñales on Rossi who is visibly boiling but it does not pass.

Fabio takes flight. The 2 Pramacs are gradually getting closer to Viñales.

The top 10 after 6 laps completed are as follows: Quartararo, Rossi, Viñales, Miller, Bagnaia, Morbidelli, Nakagami, Mir Dovizioso and Petrucci.

Note the performances of the injured, Rins 14th and Crutchlow 15th

Lecuona falls in the last bend. A. Espargaro falls in turn 2.

By trying to pass Viñales, Miller lost a position to Bagnaia. Viñales, still 4 seconds behind Fabio in the lead, who is having a festival. Bagnaia passes Viñales he occupies 6rd place. Miller also passes Viñales as well as Morbidelli, it is the drift for the Yamaha official..

Miller crashes in turn 9.

Petrucci falls in turn 2 and Bagnaia is unleashed by Rossi who is under threat from Morbidelli. The students of the RANCH do not give gifts to the Master!

The top 5 with 12 laps to go is as follows: Quartararo, Bagnaia, Rossi, Morbidelli and Viñales.

Heavy fall for Binder in turn 13, he caught the bike…

Technical problem for Morbidelli, who is in slow motion. Visibly HS engine

…Crutchlow in the pits, but leaves again.

There are 8 laps left and Viñales is closing in on Rossi. The podium on the 3rd step is within his reach.

With 7 laps to go, the engine of the Ducati Pramac smokes from Bagnaia's bike. He spreads oil everywhere...He gives up! He has the “Pecco” rage!

Nakagami whips and comes back on the Yamahas of Viñales and Rossi. There are 6 laps left, he is 4th.

Top5 with 4 laps to go: Quartararo, Rossi, Vinales, Nakagami, Mir

Viñales fails to overtake the Doctor despite his insistence...Rossi doesn't give up!

In front Fabio is rolling...he is 7.3 seconds ahead.

Small error from Rossi 2 laps from the final, Viñales passes.

Victory for Quartararo ahead of Viñales and Rossi, Nakagami, mir. Dovizioso is 6th, Zarco 9th ahead of a heroic Rins. Crutchlow scores the points for 13th and last place.
