Dr Charter is not just anyone in the MotoGP paddock. He is definitely the medical director, and the one through whom this season is also possible. Because he is the author of the health protocol which allows the holding of a World Championship in the midst of a pandemic. He also ensures its respect. In short, we don't do it to him. Was Marc Marquez the exception? Because the same Charter is still surprised...

Two days after undergoing surgery on a fractured humerus, the reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has been declared fit to compete in this weekend's Red Bull Andalusia Grand Prix after passing a medical check-up in Jerez.

Marquez fractured his humerus in a crash during the Spanish Grand Prix and returned to Barcelona on Monday. He was then operated on Tuesday by Dr. Xavier Mir, MotoGP trauma specialist, and he returned to the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto on Thursday morning.

Number 93 passed a test to see if he was fit to ride alongside his colleagues Cal Crutchlow and Alex Rins, who were also injured during the Spanish Grand Prix race weekend. Crutchlow suffered a scaphoid fracture and Kidneys a dislocated shoulder as well as a small fracture and all three received the green light to participate in the Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalucia.

Reading this, we understand that we must not see this doctor to hope for sick leave. But all the same, the same Angel Charter has undoubtedly immense experience and was amazed by the outfit Marc Marquez. Here are his words, from which everyone will draw the conclusions they want… “  As you all know, Marc Marquez had an accident in which he was injured by a fracture of the shaft of the humerus. He had surgery where they plate him and 48 hours later. As stipulated in the medical regulations, he has the right to request a medical evaluation to participate in the next race ».

“Marquez respects the rigorous medical protocol for this type of injury”

« Today he came to the medical examination unit, where they tried all the movements that involve this kind of injury and it turns out that he is able to do them perfectly. There was no sign of pain or mechanical incapacity of his right arm, and therefore the exhaustive medical examination, although it seems strange to us, was positive. It proves that the driver is perfectly ready for the race. We cannot say at what percentage, but he respects the rigorous medical protocol for this type of injury.”

“Crutchlow had another accident and fractured his left scaphoid. A nail was placed in the fractured fragment and he underwent the medical control that we carry out for this type of injury, because each injury has its own examination protocol. He is doing well and can run perfectly.”

“In the case of Alex Rins, it’s exactly the same thing. He had a scapulolumeral subluxation of the left shoulder with a small fracture on part of the head of the humerus. This morning he underwent a nuclear magnetic resonance scan and the swelling that resulted from the contusion has obviously reduced, so we did the necessary examination, and the pilot is in good shape ».

It will be noted that only Marc Marquez captivated Doctor Angel Charter… Marc Marquez should only take to the track during FP3 on Saturday morning.
