The weekends in Jerez follow one another and are not the same for Jack Miller who was hoping to confirm the good intentions seen at the Spanish Grand Prix during the Andalusian Grand Prix. But the game was much less easy. The official Yamahas were indeed faster while the Australian was subjected to the law of his teammate Bagnaia, ultimately poorly rewarded by an engine failure. The future rider of the official Ducati team still wanted to change his mind. And it ended up in the gravel trap…

Fourth last week, it was with abandon that Jack Miller this time concluded his performance at Jerez. A race which took place on the same circuit as last Sunday, in the same conditions, and, yet, the scenario was different, including with the opponents. The Australian comments: “ I am extremely disappointed “, he admits. " I tried to pass Viñales several times when his pace dropped. But it was very difficult to fight the Yamaha this time. When I finally passed her, I tried to pull away, but the front tire got too hot »

« I felt that. I then tried to compensate for this by braking “, said the 25-year-old Australian. “ When I released the brakes at turn 9, the front tire slipped. The Yamaha came out of the corners very well during this race. I do not know why. It was easier to overtake them last week. I must have tried a little too hard and overheated the front tire. That's why I lost grip »

Forearms under surveillance

Last week the pilot Ducati narrowly missed fourth place on the podium in the first MotoGP race of the season, despite having problems with his right forearm, which suddenly went numb. He had the same problem at Jerez last year. Miller think this is due to the winding layout and the particular stress caused by the 13 curves. “ I didn't drive the whole race in Andalusia, but this time I had no problems with my hand “, said “JackAss”. “ The biggest problem was the low level of grip ».

However, on this subject, the manager of the Pramac team, Francesco Guidotti clarified: “ we need to monitor this and determine if surgery will be necessary at some point ».

But the Australian returns to the competition: “ we have to see from race to race if this is possible. Many others made mistakes during this Grand Prix, but we still lost a lot of points “, he declared after his abandonment. “ Overall, though, we had a good weekend. I hope now that we will come back even stronger in Brno. Jerez is not the ideal circuit neither for the Ducati nor for me. »

The third MotoGP race of this year will take place from August 7 to 9 in Brno. Before that, the Australian Jack Miller returns to his adopted country of Andorra to train and prepare for the Czech Grand Prix.
