To Alex Marquez, as for all MotoGP riders, Portimão already seems months away, and it is therefore Jerez de la Frontera (not very far from the Algarve) which actually serves as the opening of the European season, with a series of no less than five rounds over the next two and a half months.

The Team Gresini MotoGP rider will be keen to be in the best possible shape after being knocked down by the boiling heat Jorge Martín during the Grand Prix of the Americas in Texas duringa violent contact which, after the fact, did not turn out to be without consequences : Rupture of the vastus lateralis of the left quadriceps and ligament sprain which required treatment since the first day to try to be 100% in Jerez.

Aware that this type of incident can happen to everyone, even if it happens more often to some, Alex Marquez had given up with his impetuous compatriot, his team a little less…

This unfortunate “elimination”, as the Gresini team defines it, undermines a beautiful upward spiral born since the Catalan #73 swapped his LCR team Honda for a Ducati GP22, and, the height of irony, it is indeed a Honda LCR which won in Austin, in the hands ofAlex Rins.

In short, a weekend to forget and a look towards Andalusia for the one who already won there in Moto2 in 2017 before his results were more modest in MotoGP, 12th in 2020 and 13th in 2022.

Alex Marquez currently occupies 8th in the general ranking with 33 points, just behind fabio quartararo, thanks in particular to a podium in Argentina.

Alex Marquez : " We arrive at our national circuit, a special circuit with a lot of atmosphere. It's not one of my favorite tracks, even if I like it, and I want to make up for the bitter taste I had in Austin, where we had the pace to do well. We're going to give it our all, as always, and maybe get a few free tenths from the fans in the stands. Physically, I'm doing much better, I've worked with my physiotherapists to be in the best possible shape and I can't wait to get back on my Desmosedici. »
