This weekend the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix will take place in Jerez, and it promises to be hot…

First of all in terms of weather, since a heat wave has started to hit Spain and should reach its peak on Thursday and Friday with temperatures of 36° in the shade! It will be painful for the pilots but it is even more difficult for certain inhabitants of Andalusia who have already had no tap water for several days...

AMAET, the Spanish weather agency, has issued a warning.

Furthermore, if the success of the Spanish Grand Prix continues, the municipality fears certain excesses such as wild rodeos in the streets of the Andalusian city, in particular Blas Infante Avenue. As a result, 2 police officers were mobilized and quads and “rear wheels” were banned in the urban area, from 000:06 a.m. on April 00, 27 to 2023:23 p.m. on May 00, 1.

A reminder of the sanctions was published in the local press:

  • Reckless driving and wild racing: 200 euros to 500 euros and the loss until 6 point on the permit.
  • Excessive noise: $200 and loss of up to 3 points on the license.
  • Not wearing a helmet: $200 and loss of up to 3 points on the license.
  • Excessive speed: from 100 euros to 600 euros and the loss until 6 point on the permit.

You understand, races are on the circuit, not in the streets…

The Portuguese Grand Prix in Portimão, miles away as the crow flies, does not seem to have overshadowed the Spanish Grand Prix, since there are almost no seats left for sale, and the occupancy rate of hotels in Jerez is at 98,55% on Friday and 98,93% on Saturday, improving the actual data of the previous year by almost a point on Friday (97,68%) and half a point on Saturday (98,44 .XNUMX%).

Everything is there to celebrate and there are numerous additional activities, starting with “Garage 93”, a 250 square meter space in which Marc Márquez's six motorcycles which won the motorcycle world championship will be exhibited. The space will be open until Monday May 1st and is located on Place Domecq.

There will also be stands selling products and merchandising related to the Motorcycling World Championship in the Plaza del Mamelón, visits by riders, concerts, an exhibition of vintage motorcycles, and the ritual biker parade on Thursday of the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto to the center of Jerez at 18:30 p.m. for which all bikers can register and which will precede the Ciudad de Jerez Motor Awards ceremony which will honor Giacomo Agostini.
