Grand Prix after Grand Prix, Jorge Martín has built a reputation as an extremely fast rider on a lap, even if his racing career is sometimes more messy, as evidenced by his 11th position in the MotoGP world championship standings which sets down this weekend in Jerez for its fourth stage .

But the Madrilenian intends to take advantage of Andalusia to score big points in order to move up the hierarchy, and, at the end of the first day, all the dials are green for number 89.

To arrive at his ends, George Martin however used a more classic strategy than that of his teammate Johann zarco, switching to a soft rear tire at the end of P1 to set a time of 1'36.804 which would have put him third on the starting grid last year!

In the afternoon, on a much less grippy track, the Pramac driver started by doing a first run with his soft rear tire from the morning before then concentrating on his race pace by using a hard front tire and a medium back. Then came the time to attack the clock, but, despite a brand new soft rear, the Martinator had to settle for a 1'37.306.

A final run with a second new rear tire ended in another failure in 1'38.096, thus not allowing the 29-year-old driver to improve his morning time.

A strategy which is therefore opposed to that of his teammate Johann zarco, but which has exactly the same objective for Saturday. It's hard to know who will do best...

George Martín : " It was a very solid day and I found myself super competitive. I knew it was going to be very difficult in the afternoon so I did a time attack in the morning and it went very well. So in the afternoon I just focused on race pace and understanding tire choice. We did a really good job and I feel confident with the race tires, so I feel like we are strong and we can fight for the front row tomorrow and then for the race. »
