Le MotoGP returns to Europe where he is expected to stay until mid-September, with the exception of the Kazakhstan Grand Prix scheduled for June. The Jerez circuit, named after 13-time world champion Angel Nieto, hosted Moto2, Moto3 and MotoGP tests between February and March. Brembo communicates…
GP data
According to Brembo technicians who work closely with all MotoGP riders, the 4,42 km Circuito de Jerez falls into the category of brake-demanding circuits. On a scale of 1 to 6, it got a difficulty rating of 4 due to 11 braking zones per lap lasting a total of 33 seconds. The total load exerted by each driver on the brake lever throughout the duration of the Grand Prix is around a tonne.

The first Spaniard, with the latest axial brakes
Long dominating the lower categories, Spanish drivers began to leave their mark on the premier category at the end of the 1990s, thanks to Alex Criville : the Catalan was runner-up in 1996, missed a third of the 1997 season due to injury, finished third in 1998 and won the championship in 1999. He triumphed with the Honda equipped with 290 carbon discs mm and 320 mm, depending on requirements, and four-piston Brembo calipers.
This was the last premier category championship won by a motorcycle equipped with axial calipers, because in 2000, Kenny Roberts Jr. won with a Suzuki equipped with radial calipers. A solution that seemed impossible to achieve, but through tenacity, Brembo engineers managed to implement it. The first to experiment with it was the Aprilia 250, followed by the official Suzuki 500s. And it was precisely the success of the latter which encouraged the HRC team to use them towards the end of the 1999 season, when Crivillé's title was already acquired.

Toughest corner for Brembo at Jerez
The most difficult corner of the Jerez circuit for the Brembo braking system is turn 6: the MotoGP bikes decelerate from 296 km/h to 67 km/h in 5,1 seconds, covering 229 meters, while the riders exercise a load of 5,5 kg on the brake lever. The deceleration is 1,5 g, the Brembo brake fluid pressure reaches 11,7 bars and the temperature of the carbon discs 700°C.

The forceful passage of Vale
In 2005, the MotoGP world championship began in Jerez. Valentino Rossi takes pole position with half a second ahead of Sete Gibernau. The friendship between the two men deteriorated the previous year in Qatar, when the Italian was relegated to the back of the grid because his mechanics had cleaned the starting grid. At the Jerez race, the Spaniard led the race, but Rossi overtook him on the penultimate lap, before making a braking error on the last lap. Gibernau regains the lead, but in the last corner, the Italian attacks him from the inside and pushes him. Thanks to this boost, Valentino managed to win.

The masters of design
During the winter of 1958, Pablo Picasso made himself the star of a world premiere: in Cannes, he painted “Las guirnaldas de la paz” on the side of a Citroën DS19, representing flowers, a tree and a family . Brembo also contributes to the personalization of cars thanks to colored calipers, produced since 1992. Red is the most emblematic color, but there are more than 150 solutions available: thanks to color, Brembo has transformed a “simple” mechanical product into a true design icon. Almost like Picasso...
