A MotoGP Grand Prix without an audience would be the inevitability imposed this year by a Coronavirus always on the lookout. But Jerez, who will receive the Spanish Grand Prix on July 19, and that of Andalusia the following weekend does not want behind closed doors. The mayor of Jerez, Mamen Sanchez, requested a meeting with Carmelo EzpeletaCEO Dorna, and Juan Marín, vice-president of the Government of Andalusia, to verify the possibility of opening not only the MotoGP Grand Prix planned for the July 19 and 26 but also SBK on August 2.

For now, this is just a proposal that will need to be analyzed in detail to understand how it could be implemented. Of course, the capacity of the circuit would be reduced and the spaces intended for spectators isolated.

But the idea is there and Ezpeleta has already been informed. The meeting will serve to verify its feasibility, also because opening to the public would mean "an increase in expenses for the circuit", indicates an official note from the Municipality of Jerez.
