It was in responding to the famous Simon Crafar that Johann zarco revealed his goal for the season MotoGP 2024.

Setting a goal is always a difficult exercise, but the Frenchman can rely on the recent tests at Sepang, which he finished in 16th position, to begin to benchmark himself against his opponents...

Johann, you are now starting an exciting new project alongside Castrol, Honda and LCR. I would like to know what gave you the confidence to take on this project?
“It comes from the experience I gained on all the bikes previously. Last year, I also understood that I could have fun even in difficult times. I started the 24 season well with the Honda and it seems like Honda has made a lot of changes, so I'm ready to enjoy them. »

What are your strengths and what can you bring to this project?
“The way I can analyze what other riders are doing well, and also just with other riders when we share our feedback, I also try to guide what they feel, like if the bike can move and they think it's because of the rear, I say "no, maybe it's because of the front", and then they can look at it another way. »

I would like to know what your objective is, in the short and long term, taking into account developments in motorcycling?
“I want to race to stay at the top, or at least have the chance or opportunity to feel like I can fight for a podium or even more if the opportunity presents itself. And with the new bike, I have this stimulation, this motivation and this feeling that it is even more possible. So I can't say a really clear goal on a position, but I'm used to being pretty consistent, so maybe get Honda at least into the top 10, in the world championship. »

You have worked with different teams. Give us your thoughts on your new team, LCR.
“The advantage of the LCR team, compared to a real factory team, is that we have more contact with the mechanics and technicians, and we have the factory bike. It is therefore almost the best solution to have less pressure in the team, but with the best equipment. »

Johann, Castrol has been associated with Honda for over 50 years. What are your memories and knowledge of this association?
“Perhaps what I remember about Castrol and Honda is the time when Colin Edwards won the Superbike title and the bike colors were almost the same as what we have this year. »
