Faced with the courageous decision to leave KTM at the end of the season, and therefore with an uncertain future in MotoGP, Johann Zarco gave an interview to Canal+ (at the microphone of Marina Lorenzo, and not at that of Laurent Rigal, as might suggest our photo) in which he approached his future in a very Cartesian way, ordering it according to several possibilities.

Here is a summary of the various solutions that the double French world champion is considering, classified according to his preferences, after having described what he was currently experiencing.

Johann zarco : "a strange sort of feeling." In the end, it's almost like jumping without a parachute because I don't know what I can do next year. But it’s a relief from the things that were lurking inside me and disturbing me.”

“Since April or May, I have been saying 'I can't continue like this'. I tried to move past it and get fully into the project but I always found these same sensations, doubt and anger, which made me feel bad.”

“It made me sick to be paid well for doing nothing.”

Option A, racing in MotoGP: “On paper, 2020 is very compromised in MotoGP. There is no solution. So it’s unlikely but not 100% forgotten, because things can still happen.”

Option B, MotoGP test rider: “test rider on a winning bike. It could be Yamaha or it could be Suzuki. Why not Ducati? Honda, I don't know. If I become a test rider, it’s really to bounce back afterwards, because the objective is very clear: to be able to perform in MotoGP on the podiums and dream of a title.”

Option C, Return to Moto2: “she’s there in the head too. Staying in the Grand Prix paddock is fundamental. Giving yourself the means to win a world title again is a huge lesson! Being able to find that again would allow us to keep this feeling of always being on the edge and being ready to do anything to win and then bounce back in MotoGP afterwards.”

Option D, Superbike: " No. For the moment, I haven’t even spoken with people about a possibility in Superbike.”

We see, in the absence of the slightest certainty, things are clear in the mind of Johann zarco.

For the moment, the paddock is buzzing with the three most likely tracks:
– Yamaha test rider in place of Jonas Folger,
– Replacement for Jorge Lorenzo if he were to end his career,
– Return to KTM, with other objectives and a new contract.

Time will tell…
