Johann Zarco has come a long way and he did what was necessary in 2020 to find himself in Ducati's good books in 2021 with a machine that can allow him great things. Johann zarco is a double Moto2 World Champion and, with his 16 victories, he is the tricolor who has achieved the most in the Grand Prix. However, this does not prevent accidents along the way and his passage as an official KTM was one. Drafted at the last minute thanks to the efforts of Claude Michy, the Cannes resident is now back on the rails and on the high-speed train Ducati, since he broke the top speed record during offseason testing at Qatar with his GP21.

A state-of-the-art Desmosedici, in fact, which is a change from his old GP19 with which he won a pole position and a podium last season. And again, in terms of leading position on the starting grid, he had two on the track, since he was downgraded due to a sanction in Austria.

Trials that hardened Johann zarco which presents itself, for this season, sharp as ever: “ when we have winter to train properly physically, without injuries, and there are fewer difficulties in managing your career, you can concentrate on sport. That's why it's going so well », Explains the tricolor.

Not only that, he seems to have arrived at the right place at the right time, an idea that the team manager of the Pramac team Guidotti had already raised. The pilot confirms: “ there is a great feeling in the team. Even during a coffee break we are together, we laugh ". An atmosphere that he already knew and which he missed: “ I feel at home, just like at Tech3. This is where I discovered the opportunity to have fun off the track. On the track, we were focused on work. It's the same thing at Pramac ». zarco is therefore convinced that this will also result in good results.

Good results which he materializes as follows: his objective for 2021 is to be “ at the same level as Miller at the end of last year ». Jack Miller, the direct predecessor of zarco at Pramac-Ducati, finished the last campaign with two second places in Valencia and Portugal. The Frenchman is also aiming for podium places this season, but he also wants “ also think about victory ».

John Zarco: " why not me ? » 

« We've had so many new winners that I'm thinking, "Why not me?" "My goal is to be in this zone, around the podium, and if everything goes well, think about winning. I'm realistic and during the Qatar test, we could see that I was often in the top 5 » he said on Motorsport-total.com.

As for his general feelings about the Ducati, zarco does not hide his confidence “ For me, discovering the Ducati was a pleasure. I think the bike rides very well. Although it's not easy to be fast in the corners, there are opportunities to try things. That’s how I motivate myself or how I work. I'm not complaining about the corners because I think the Ducati has a lot of potential ».

An approach that goes straight to the heart of Gigi Dall'Igna, the race director of Ducati : " he is very interested in what Jack, Pecco and I have to say ", ended zarco. " In a satellite team, you are more there to confirm something. But with Pramac, there is this feeling of trying and weighing. It's very interesting.
