Between a week of physical preparation at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center in Austria, the two days oftesting in Jerez, contract signed with Only Pro, return to Furygan and discovery of golf, the month of January was not idle for Johann Zarco always on the go.

But this list does not stop there since the French pilot, as atypical in his career and his track record as in the involvement he puts in everything, also devoted two of his days to a completely new activity.

Discreetly, on the morning of January 7, the double world champion went to the recording studio Archipel, in the Place de la République district of Paris. There, unshaven but determined, the Cannes resident took on a task as difficult as it was thankless: the dubbing of his own voice in “voice over”, in Italian and English, for the soundtrack of the film made about him by Bernard Fau, “ Johann Zarco, the audacity of a champion ».

The exercise lasted two full days and, despite prior translation, required constant concentration, both to transcribe the desired emotion into a foreign language and to respect the timing of each sentence. This is probably why very, very few actors venture there… but it took a lot more to scare someone who risks their life at more than 340 km/h!

At the end of two very long days without any real break, started with the Italian version since he speaks it fluently, Johann zarco therefore impressed the studio professionals with his unfailing tenacity: as in everything he does, he gives his all!

Our Italian and English-speaking friends will therefore be able to benefit from a specific version. As for us, we can have a little taste…

Bernard Fau : “It was a very difficult exercise and I haven't seen many documentaries where the protagonist doubles as himself. In fact, I've never seen one! Johann started with Italian which is his second, almost mother tongue. The sentences were already well translated by an Italian but he put them in his hand and spoke as he would have spoken in the paddock. He worked from 11 a.m. to 20 p.m. and, although he had never done this before in his life, he had it all figured out after an hour, which really impressed the sound engineer.
Plus, what was interesting is that Johann, even though he saw the finished film twice, didn't know it as much as I know him. So he was going to see written every word he could say that tells the story of his life: there is necessarily something emotional there that makes it touch you. And as a result, who says emotional means getting tired more, losing concentration or even blocking. I was in my little shoes because there was a stake and a challenge, but he succeeded very well, as he knows how to do since he is gifted for many things.
It was a huge job, more than 22 hours in total, but Johann gave himself a lot because it makes him happy to know that when Italians go to see the film, they will hear it in Italian. And that's exceptional, just like English, even if it was a little more complicated since he speaks Italian fluently. Forza Zarco! »
