Johann Zarco is enjoying his last days of vacation before taking charge again for the second part of the MotoGP season. A period that he aims to finish one place higher in the general ranking than the one he occupies today. If he achieves this objective, then he will be outright World Champion having joined and beaten Fabio Quartararo like the rest of the field. He believes in it, because he knows he has the means to achieve it. He repeated it in a recent interview, also recalling that the return to a Red Bull Ring which will host two races will be essential.
Johann zarco ends his vacation in the great outdoors by also indulging in one of his other passions outside of motorcycling: music. “ I'm taking advantage of the break to do the things that I usually put off during the current season: seeing friends and enjoying some time at home. Right now, for example, I'm with a friend who lives in the mountains and has a music recording studio. With my brother we have fun playing here ».
A moment which is also a moment of contemplation allowing one to recharge not only physically, but mentally. A balance that he claims today, and even beyond the competition. The double Moto2 World Champion said: “ a lot of people know me from the sunset graphics, but that's from a bygone era. Since last year I have made a big change by putting my chakras, to say: one suicide bomber is no longer enough to fight for the MotoGP title, you need a deeper understanding of yourself. This year the idea remained the same and there is also the third eye, which is the sixth chakra, I added it behind. It's a more aggressive helmet than last year, but keeping this spirit of meditationn: I know where I am, where I come from and where I want to go ».
The direction and the point to be reached being thus defined, the Frenchman moves on to concrete matters, namely the approach to this second part of the season which he will begin as second in the championship and on a track in Austria that his Ducati loves it as much as he does… “ The track is very good for the bike, it would be nice to get a good advantage. My goal is to put into practice everything I learned in this first half of the season to take a step forward on the Ducati, and truly be a direct opponent of Fabio Quartararo. There will be tracks more or less favorable to our motorcycle. Spielberg is a track that I like, I'm happy when I ride there ».
John Zarco: “my experience on this Ducati is increasing”
In his first part of the campaign, he specifies Moto sprint : " I would have liked to use the bike even better. I always say that I have the potential to finish on the podium in every race, but it's easier said than done. My experience on this Ducati increases and I would like confidence to come almost instantly on weekends, but I have to resist and not lose patience ».
Johann zarco even details his journey so far: “ the Jerez Grand Prix, where I couldn't stay with the leaders, was a disappointment. I finished eighth, the same position as Sachsenring, which was quite a good weekend: in Germany I took pole position and I felt strong also in the first half of the race. In the second part I had difficulty, but it can happen. In Jerez, on the other hand, I didn't feel very fast all weekend ».
The tricolor also had great satisfaction: “ in Qatar, it was incredible to be in front, to obtain two second places and to return to Europe at the top of the championship. And then there was Barcelona, where I felt really strong in the race. Although I had lost ground at one point, I caught up to finish in second place. I also thought about the victory, which did not come, but it was a very beautiful Sunday, as I would like it to happen often ».
