Johann Zarco discovered the Ducati Desmosedici during the first tests of the year at Sepang. A learning process which is currently continuing in Qatar on a Losail track which will be the scene of the first Grand Prix of the year. The Frenchman will therefore not be in unfamiliar territory when hostilities begin on March 6. However, there is no time to lose in understanding the subtleties of this GP19. The Frenchman has also spotted a few which could well be useful to him in the race…

Johann zarco is a team driver Avintia with special support from the factory Ducati who sent his own technicians to his side. After Yamaha, KTM, and even a little Honda, the Frenchman is on his fourth manufacturer in MotoGP. You have to get your bearings each time, and even with some experience, it takes time to adapt: “ my best adaptation was when I moved from Moto2 to MotoGP and discovered the Yamaha » remembers the tricolor. “ But I was also on the momentum of the double world champion title. Just mentally it allowed me to already aim very high. And there I see that with the difficulties I had last year, this mental level is perhaps a little notch lower for the moment. But this is completely normal and this is where you should not skip ahead. »

On his new mount, he deciphers: “ there are really a lot of things different compared to other bikes and that's where you have to learn new things, because all my achievements are no longer enough to play at the forefront in MotoGP. You have to know how to evolve. » A beautiful confession, but Ducati also has some advantages… “ The motorcycle brings its power and acceleration. Even when we miss the turn a little, we always manage to reaccelerate well. And even if sometimes we have the feeling of not having done everything perfectly, at the end of the straight line we find ourselves with super top speed. These are really cool feelings that I haven't had before. It’s clear that it’s an advantage in racing, when you’re fighting against opponents. »

Until Monday, Johann zarco will continue the development of his Ducati GP19, even if he recognizes on Ouest France that on this level… “ I'll let all the technical staff think about that. I trust them 100%. »
