Johann zarco

Johann Zarco completed a sixth season in MotoGP which allowed him to establish his domination in a classification which he would have done without, because he identifies the rider who has done the most Grands Prix without ever winning any. This year 2022 was even worse than the previous one in terms of the final ranking, and even if there was satisfaction, the constant is that when we return from the summer break, the Frenchman falls into line. In 2023, we will finally have to change that, and the tricolor assures that it has never been so ready to make it happen...

Johann zarco is he too nice for MotoGP? He knows how to stay in the race by not attacking the candidate Ducati for the title Pecco Bagnaia as he showed in Thailand. His 2022 chief mechanic at Pramac swears that he is not technically demanding enough to be completely at ease. And all this gives this assessment of the season: two people pole positions and four podiums. Despite two additional races on the calendar, he collected seven points less than in 2021 in a championship where he slipped from fifth to eighth place in general. And then there is this damaging constant: during his three years Ducati, he never claimed a podium in the second half of the season.

The double Moto2 World Champion knows all his statistics and, when it comes to taking stock, he doesn’t hide behind his little finger: “ eighth place is not a great pleasure for all my investment this season. But that's how it is, the level is high ". He adds : " the results are not as good as they could be. I'm disappointed because this feeling doesn't come when entering the corner. It means that I can't control the bike the way I want. It's a shame because it's all about ».

Johann Zarco: “ I think I'm still among the best«

But let us be reassured: nothing is prohibitive: “ I am always motivated because I feel that something technical is holding me back. It can be resolved. That's why I'm motivated. There are things to do. This little thing can have a big effect ". And he is counting on the new GP23 to remove the obstacle: “ next year we will have technical changes which will definitely help. I'm not going to let this stop me from working harder to improve. It's a very intense class and you can't stagnate ».

And you also have to have “your” motorcycle: “ I can adapt, but at some point you have to find these details so that each pilot can use the strengths of his style » points out the one who also regrets five retirements this year, including one at Silverstone while he was leading the start of the British Grand Prix… “ I see that a lot of drivers have a different style. And they succeed. So I have to do it with my style too ". And he ends on motorsport total : " if I look at the level this year, I think I am still among the best. It's so intense that they're good experiences. But I want to have even better experiences in 2023 ».
