As expected after the public prosecutor of the Valencia court requested the release of Jorge Martinez, owner of the Angel Nieto team, accused of corruption in the case dating from 2006 of the organization of the Valencia F1 Grand Prix, the 2nd Court of Instruction of Valencia decreed the provisional rejection of the investigation opened into ex-pilot nicknamed “Aspar”.

According to EFE, which had access to the order, justice maintains a criminal offense against Francisco Camps, the ex-president of the Generalitat, but declares that there are no "logical grounds" to pursue Jorge Martinez as well as three second-rank civil servants.

The decision, dated this Tuesday, is not final and can be appealed within three days, but Jorge “Aspar” Martinez has already declared himself immensely relieved: “Four extremely hard years, but it’s time to turn the page. With the closure of the case, the most difficult stage of my life is over. I am grateful for the support received from my family and the affection of so many people.
The Angel Nieto team is a very exciting project and one of great responsibility. We are the only Spanish professional team in the GP category of the motorcycling world championship, and our young riders lead in both the Spanish championship and the world championship. We will soon be world champions again.”

However, Spanish justice is continuing its work on this case involving the company Valmor Sports which ultimately cost the taxpayers of the Valencian community several hundred million euros, for having hosted five Formula 1 Grand Prix between 2008 and 2012.
