At the dawn of the sixth Grand Prix of the 2019 MotoGP season, Jorge Lorenzo has still not had a top 10 on his Honda. A motorcycle that he discovered after his two years at Ducati which followed his nine-year period with Yamaha. This weekend is coming Italian Grand Prix during which, last year, he returned to the light by winning a resounding victory aboard a Desmosedici, in which even the boss of Ducati no longer believed. We know the story that imposed this Honda on him and this even greater challenge of standing up to Marc Márquez with the same equipment. Before this weekend’s Mugello, Por Fuera takes stock…

An interview with GP One which puts things into perspective. With the frankness we know from him, Jorge Lorenzo recalls how he got there: “ going to Ducati was a choice, but ending up at Honda was not a decision in itself. I came here because of a series of circumstances that offered me an excellent opportunity ».

A constraint therefore, which we must now face: “ the Honda doesn't naturally adapt to my riding style. It will be a long challenge. I got injured, all of which makes it harder to keep up with the best. I must face this moment with patience and I know that every little progress will be a victory, because it will bring me closer to the best. When that happens, we'll see things from other perspectives ».

It must be said that in addition to the motorcycle, there is a man in the next box who is not just anyone: “ Marc Márquez comes from another world. He is aggressive, very fast and is not afraid of falling. He is physically strong and has worked for the Japanese firm for 7 years. He's one of the two or three greatest talents in history. ».

He ends his interview on a light note which concerns what his life could be like after… “ I thought at 23 that I would stop at 32” recalls the now 32-year-old Majorcan. “Starting a family and having a baby are more complicated decisions than signing a contract. I would like to enjoy things that I have never enjoyed before, for example traveling the world to know the best restaurants, hotels and beaches ».
