It is Jorge Lorenzo who is still not accepting his replacement by Cal Crutchlow as Yamaha test rider. Just a year ago, Jorge Lorenzo announced that he was ending his career and thus his contract Honda which was to last another season. Then a few weeks later, he entered Yamaha as a test pilot, which didn't particularly make his former employer laugh. Today, it is a manufacturer that does not amuse the rider, in this case that of Iwata who has decided not to follow up on his experience with his former triple MotoGP World Champion.
This was a test pilot position which will return in 2021 to Cal Crutchlow. A decision that Por Fuera seems to resent. Since this news became official, he has continued to criticize it, openly doubting its validity. Worse, he addresses the reasons which led him to find himself thus unemployed as the result of a sort of internal conspiracy which would have knowingly put him in a situation of failure...
He comments thus: “ I was blamed for my performance at Portimao which was so bad. I explained that mid-year, in June, I was told there would be no more tests and obviously I withdrew so I could enjoy other things in life. So I didn't train since I didn't have any more tests until February. This is why I reduced my training pace. I worked out to stay in shape, but not like I had a testing plan. Before COVID, there were 15 or 16 days of testing and I had my training plan, but when I was told that I was no longer going to race in Catalonia and that there would be no more tests, so I lowered the pace ».
Lorenzo adds: " I hadn't ridden for eight months, and on a strange circuit they brought me a team that was not trained to offer good performances. Then how do they want me to go fast with the 2019 bike? A test rider should take the 2021 bike and it's not that they gave me, nor the current one, but rather this one from the previous year ».
“I think Jorge is going through a bad time”
Based on these observations, Por Fuera arrives at these conclusions: “ what work can I do like this? JI think they made this decision under the influence of one or two people who aren't Lin Jarvis, because I don't think it came from him alone. I can think of two people who influenced the decision not to renew me and ultimately I have to respect that decision even if it is unfair to me ».
« I believe it because it was based solely on this unfortunate test where what I achieved and my potential were not properly evaluated. I think I can still go fast on a motorcycle and give good directions. By going even slower than a Cal, for example, my indications would have been a hundred times more exact and precise than a pilot who is not sensitive and who does not adapt to what the Yamaha demands, like Cal, Dovizioso or another type of driver. But it is their decision and they will have to comply with it in the future with results. We will see if they are positive or negative ».
Jorge Lorenzo is therefore angry. A mood that Dovizioso includes: “ I think Jorge is going through a bad period where he was abandoned by Yamaha, so he takes it out on everyone ".
