After winning the Austrian Grand Prix in style, Jorge Lorenzo returned to AS.com on what he considers to be the five greatest victories of his career.

In fifth position, Jorge Lorenzo rightly chose his victory in Austria : “It's not easy to win against Márquez in close combat because he is one of the best drivers in these conditions. In Austria I succeeded with a maneuver during heavy braking where I improvised when I saw that he was trying to overtake me. I saw a space from the outside where he didn't think I was going to pass, and thanks to the acceleration, I gave him a sort of exterior. It was a great fight against a great driver. »

At the foot of the podium, we find the Mugello 2016 : “It was my closest victory, at least I remember it that way, with only nineteen thousandths ahead of Márquez, whom I accelerated on the straight. We also overtook a lot on the last lap, and there were a lot of emotions. »

In third position, Lorenzo chose Silverstone 2013 : “It was a huge race, against a Márquez who had already beaten me in close combat that year, and he overtook me on the last lap, with three corners to go, but I passed him again at the next turn in a place where there was no room. It was a great race that I remember fondly, especially for my decisive overtake at the end. »

The second place in the ranking is occupied by Estoril 2008 : “This race wasn't one of my best given the way it went, because I got away a little and there was no emotion in the last laps, but it is important because of what it represents. It was my first victory in MotoGP, in my third race, and after making two good overtakes on Rossi and Pedrosa before widening the gap. »

Finally, his greatest victory remains, according to him, Rio 2003 : “The first victory of my life in a Grand Prix was incredible. It was in Rio, in 2003, with the Derbi, when I was under pressure because I had to achieve good results to win the World Cup. The way I won that day was incredible, making the outside to Stoner and Pedrosa. »
