George Martin

In the ninth episode of his podcast, Jorge Lorenzo looked at the highlights of the German Grand Prix. Between the fall of Jorge Martin, the change of championship leader in favor of Pecco Bagnaia and the double podium of the Marquez brothers, Lorenzo offered a detailed and passionate analysis.

Jorge Lorenzo opened the podcast by analyzing the journey of George Martin, emphasizing that his fall marked a turning point: “ I see this was a turning point and a missed opportunity for Martin, because of this pressure from Bagnaia which he did not know how to manage well. » The fall of Martin allowed to bagnaia to take the lead championnat : " Jorge found himself faced with a great opportunity. I think it was one of his favorite circuits. He knew he had to stay in front of Bagnaia to increase this gap. But I see the two very similar, I would say 'robots', in addition to the Ducati. »

Lorenzo noted the subtle but crucial differences between the two drivers Ducati : “ Bagnaia gained explosiveness and Martin lost it to gain consistency. At this stage, Pecco knows how to manage his emotions better. » According to him, it was this management capacity which tipped the scales in favor of bagnaia.

Jorge Lorenzo: “ not only is Jorge Martin frustrated by the crash and loss of championship lead, but he also feels excluded from Ducati »

The fall of Martin also revealed deep frustration: “ not only is he frustrated by the crash and loss of lead, but he also feels excluded from Ducati. It's a double frustration, and what's more, he's now going on vacation for a month. We must transform the negative into a positive, there is nothing left... »

Lorenzo also praised the impressive performance of Marc Marquez, who, despite a difficult qualification and a start in thirteenth position, finished second: “ after the collision with Morbidelli, his airbag inflated. This makes the next two or three turns very uncomfortable and you can lose half a second or a second. This has more merit. Physically, despite his injury, he is stronger than the others."

Jorge Lorenzo addressed the overwhelming dominance of European brands, notably Ducati, on the rest of the competitors: “ Aprilia and KTM are further than we thought. The Ducatis spun impressively and didn't move, they are very strong. At certain times of the season, it seemed like KTM was at that level, but now it seems that's not the case anymore. The clock puts everyone in their place."

With a three-week summer break before the next Grand Prix at Silverstone, drivers will have time to reflect and prepare for the second half of the season. For Lorenzo, this break could be crucial for George Martin in order to bounce back and come back stronger.
