George Martin

The Jorge Martin saga is finally coming to an end. The reigning MotoGP world champion has decided to honor his contract with Aprilia for the 2026 season, abandoning a legal battle that promised to be complex and costly.

Martin, sidelined for most of the season due to serious injuries, has only participated in one race weekend this year. He had attempted to activate a performance release clause, allowing him to leave Aprilia if he was not among the top finishers after Le Mans. But the Italian team maintained that his injury absences made this clause inapplicable.

Faced with compensation demands deemed unrealistic by his camp, Martin found himself in a stalemate. An appeal to the Italian courts seemed the only way out, with little chance of success before the end of the season.

Marco Bezzecchi: “ Jorge Martin can also be useful to me »

Present on the grid of the German Grand Prix on the microphone of TNT Sports 2, the boss of Aprilia Racing, Massimo rivola, welcomed this outcome:

« I was in Misano, I saw Jorge Martin happy to feel goodHe enjoys the bike, firstly because he missed it, and secondly because he had a good feeling with the RS-GP25. He's definitely looking forward to Brno. The important thing is that he is happy to stay »

The Spaniard will therefore make his big comeback at the next Grand Prix in Brno, alongside his teammate Marco Bezzecchi, who is pleased to find him in the box:

« It will be good for him, for sure. He can also be useful to me, he is a fantastic driver and we will have more data and motivation. We all know Martin, it will certainly be a good thing for him to come back and for Aprilia to turn the situation around. »

After a chaotic start to the season, Aprilia hopes to finally turn the page and bet on the duo Martin-Bezzecchi to raise the head in the second part of championnat.
