Jorge Martin is considered one of the great hopes of the Grands Prix and as such, he knew very early in 2020 that his future in MotoGP was assured. Although competing under the colors of KTM at Ajo in Moto2, it was Ducati who got hold of him, from the start of last year, although marked by confinement. For the record, the fate of Moto2 World Champion Enea Bastianini took more time to become clear... And to confirm the trend of a big climb for the Spaniard, it is he who will be a Desmosedici of the Pramac team, while the Italian will be satisfied with a GP19 at Avintia. Jorge Martin will therefore have Johann Zarco as his teammate, which did not escape him...

At Pramac Ducati, we start from a clean sheet after seeing its two riders head towards the official reds Jack Miller et Pecco Bagnaia. A new pair of riders are arriving in the Ducati satellite team. Johann zarco will be the most experienced since he is the rookie George Martin who sits next to him.

George Martin will therefore begin in 2021 in the category he has always dreamed of, and he will have something to measure himself in the competition between the rookies since he will have as opponent bastianini et Luca Marini equipped with… GP19: “ the most logical objective is to be rookie of the year,” comments the former Moto3 World Champion. “After all, they are the only riders to arrive in this category in the same conditions, without experience and with the same bike. I have to compare myself to them ».

He adds on Motorsport-total about his 2021 hopes: “ A realistic, albeit complicated, goal will be to finish the championship in the top 10. This can be done, although we will have to work hard. I think this is the goal I must dream of ».

Jorge Martin: “Ducati told me to be open-minded”

For the moment, it all remains a matter of mentality because George Martin has never been on a Desmosedici before. The only base he has is his training Panigale V4. However, he begins to have a small idea of what awaits him and has some hopes: “ I haven’t ridden the Ducati yet, so I have no idea,” he admits. “Ducati told me to be open-minded, that the bike is very different from the one I've been riding lately ».

« So I'm expecting a stiff bike, a racing bike, that's what I'm used to. It might be a power and braking beast, but I'm a rider who needs a stiff bike to go fast and I think I'll be comfortable with the Ducati ». George Martin also counts on his teammate to progress… “ At the moment the reference rider who was with Ducati is Andrea Dovizioso and his information is certainly used on many circuits ».

« But every year things are different, including tires, and everything changes. I hope I can learn a lot from my teammate. I think Johann Zarco is one of the strongest drivers on the grid, he has great potential. So I look forward to learning from him and improving ". A beautiful tribute that lays a good foundation in the box to share...

Jorge Martin is already making a habit with Johann Zarco...
