Let it be said, the five-year term in MotoGP has already started. We know that the stable association IRTA and the organizer Dorna have signed to extend their partnership for another five years at the Motul TT Assen. We also know that manufacturers are invited to commit for five years by the same Dorna. And it was the newcomer KTM who signed the lease first in Misano.

And six! This is the MotoGP grid inhabited by six manufacturers. Three Japanese with Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki then three Europeans with Aprilia, Ducati and now KTM. The Austrian brand KTM is the first manufacturer to sign the new agreement covering a five-year commitment.

Friday afternoon, Carmelo Ezpeleta, the CEO of Dorna Sports, and Pete Beirer, the Director of Motorsport at KTM, met at the TIM GP of San Marino and the Riviera di Rimini to finalize the agreement between the two parties. This new agreement, which represents the interests of all manufacturers involved in the sport, has also been sent to all other manufacturers on the grid.

In the same vein of organization of the category, it will be recalled that private teams will receive 2.8 million euros in subsidies per season from Dorna, while the cost of renting motorcycles will be capped at 2.2 million euros. per pilot. The goal is to bring together at least 24 riders on the MotoGP starting grid in 2018, with Dorna even wanting these numbers to be distributed as follows: six manufacturers for four machines per manufacturer. In this sense, each manufacturer is invited to enter a minimum of two teams: one official, the other satellite.
