At KTM, we don't do half measures. We say what we think, we say what we do and we do what we say. The good 2020 season gave the board of directors an appetite, which apparently remained deaf to calls for caution from the men on the ground, Pit Beirer and Mike Leitner. Because for boss Stefan Pierer, the 2021 objective is clear: it is absolutely the title.

Arriving in MotoGP, the big boss of KTM Stefan pierer warned: “ it took us seven or eight years to get our first overall win at the Dakar and the US Supercross Championship as well. We won't give up until we also win MotoGP ". The RC16 project will be in its fifth year in 2021. And he can boast of having won three victories in 2020. A signal for the boss.

Stefan pierer states thus on speedweek : " in 2020, we achieved and exceeded our goals. We now have a technical base that allows several types of drivers to win and position themselves at the front and, for the first time, also gives rookies better opportunities, as shown by Brad Binder and Iker Lecuona ».

Since then, Pierre arrives at this conclusion: “ our goal for next year is already we want to fight for the world title, and win it if possible ". An ambition shared by the KTM T, Hubert Trunkenpolz, whose uncle Erich Trunkenpolz created the KTM brand, whose trigram means Kronreif & Trunkenpolz, Mattighofen…

KTM: “our bike is really on the right track”

The latter adds: “ whatever championship we participate in, at some point we want to win a title. It's exactly the same in MotoGP ", says Trunkenpolz. “ I wouldn't say we don't have a chance in the title fight next year. Our bike is really on the right track now. We'll see what it looks like when our captain Pol Espargaró is gone. He could have finished second this year without the crashes in Brno and Spielberg... But if our two boys are in good shape, I can already imagine that they will fight for the title. Pit Beirer also expects a lot from our new element Danilo Petrucci ».

By the way, with Brad Binder, Miguel Oliveira and so, Danilo Petrucci, KTM has three of its four riders who have already won at least one Grand Prix in MotoGP. Finally, KTM does not hide its respect for the Suzuki project which is a declared source of inspiration for the Austrians.

At KTM, we really got a taste for victory...
