Petrucci Portugal

Danilo Petrucci received the results of the medical check-up he requested after a Spanish Grand Prix which tormented his right arm. As it is in the spirit of the times, he thought about compartment syndrome. This is not the case and there will therefore be no operation. However, there is still a problem. And its revelation is not necessarily more reassuring…

The pilot Tech3 KTM Danilo Petrucci, like some of his MotoGP colleagues, experienced problems with his right arm during the Grand Prix in Jerez last Sunday. It was therefore necessary to verify this and in particular to remove doubts about compartment syndrome. From his 14th place to the finish of Spanish Grand Prix, Danilo Petrucci had commented: “ I had problems with my right hand, so it was difficult to control the bike ».

This resembled the currently widespread compartment syndrome, but the Italian's problem 30 years ultimately differs considerably from the concerns of Fabio Quartararo andAleix Espargaro on the subject. The cause is rather the after-effects of his fall during the Jerez test on July 15, 2020. Which is not necessarily better…

The one who scored his first points for KTM last Sunday recalls: “ I flew violently in Jerez last year and hit two intervertebral discs in the neck region. My nerves are not 100%. I have been working there since last year. I mainly feel that the right arm is very tired. Nerves do not transmit the correct information to the muscle ».

Petrucci will take on a new challenge.

Petrucci: “sometimes I'm in bed and my right arm falls asleep”

« So I was very tired, but it wasn't compartment syndrome. " said Petrux. “ If you have this, blood collects in your forearm. This is not the case with me, I just feel like my arm is getting tired. But this is also the case when I do nothing. Sometimes I'm in bed and my right arm falls asleep. So that's another matter. ».

Petrucci will have more checks on his neck this week at home in Italy. But what can be done to solve this problem? “ What we can do is strengthen the entire shoulder and the area around the collarbone with the muscles and thus make it more stable so that the forearm is less stressed when riding » he explained on speedweek.
