The circuit director made this proposal to MotoGP and Formula 1. Both competitions are studying it.

The return to the circuits continues to be an uncertainty, although from the circuit of Catalonia we are trying to fix a date for it. The circuit director, Joan Fontserè , would be in negotiations with the MotoGP and Formula 1 to host the first races of the two competitions on its route. The most optimistic forecasts envisage the return of Formula 1 in July and that of MotoGP in August.

At the moment, this is all up in the air. Europe seems the most logical scenario of the summer and that is why the Circuit de Catalunya offered itself as the host. Formula 1 is in despair at having to count its losses in the millions due to the cancellation of races to date and is looking favorably on the Catalan track. Dorna for its part is also in talks.

« We proposed to the promoter, in this case Dorna, to hold a championship under this year's conditions as long as the teams can survive, the other circuits also have activities and the promoters can make television broadcasts. The intention is that next year the championship starts again with the maximum possible strength with all categories, teams and drivers Reveals Fontserè on the Tot Gira program of Catalunya Ràdio.

The Circuit de Catalunya has a contract with MotoGP until 2021. site managers have set their conditions so that these races can take place . « The biggest source of revenue recovery when we run a Grand Prix until now has been ticket sales and accommodation and now we won't have that. We would therefore organize the Grand Prix without paying the costs.” In addition to these economic conditions, they also work on logistical and health conditions which they must now respect.

In the event that several races must be organized, Joan Fontserè declares that the track is capable of hosting these races and recalls that the F1 tests take place for two consecutive weeks. With this proposal, the track hopes to increase their options and soon begin talks to renew contracts with Formula 1 and MotoGP.
