Izan Guevara

See you soon 30, Marc Márquez hopes to begin the second part of his extraordinary career, after the physical setbacks he has suffered in recent years. The Catalan's will is fierce, and we simply hope that Honda will provide him with the weapons to regain his best level, that is to say on the highest step of the podiums. During this time, Izan Guevara continues on its merry way. To big steps…

Izan Guevara was born on June 28, 2004 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Young, he attended the Lorenzo Competición school run by boy lorenzo, father of the three-time MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo but also a trainer of Joan mir et Augusto Fernandez. A school of world champions which allows the young Mallorcan to learn his classes by winning several titles in mini motorcycles, including the first when he was only seven years old.

At 14, an eternity later, the young man made his international debut by taking part in theEuropean Talent Cup for the Cuna de Campeones team in 2019. After a start in Portugal where the No. 28 finished 10th and 8th, the boy made his mark by achieving 6 consecutive victories, which allowed him to win the title in Jerez, ahead of Ivan Ortolá, even before scoring a 10th place in Albacete and being absent in the final in Valencia.

2020 logically sees him move to the Junior Moto3 World Championship, this time under the colors of the Aspar team. The scenario repeats itself, with an honest start to the season but nothing more, before registering 5 victories including 4 consecutive, then ending the year with two additional podiums, allowing him to snatch the title by 7 points ahead Xavier Artigas, 19 points ahead Peter Acosta. a Peter Acosta who, on the other hand, won the Red Bull Rookies Cup title ahead of Ivan Ortolá, there where Izan Guevara ultimately only finished 9th.

This does not prevent the Majorcan from starting in the Moto3 World Championship in 2021, still under the colors of Jorge Martinez. Once again, the scenario is similar, with a timid start to the season apart from the first race in Qatar, then an increase in power from Silverstone which resulted in a first victory in the confusion of Austin and 8th place in the general classification for his rookie year, the championship being won by Peter Acosta, also a World Cup debutant.

2022 will therefore be the year ofIzan Guevara, the 18-year-old Aspar driver winning more than one race out of three and scoring a total of 12 podiums, thus securing the title at Phillip Island, two events before the end of the season, 62 points ahead of his teammate Sergio Garcia.

Even if boy lorenzo thinks, it is still too early to say if the Mallorcan will be part of the future succession of Marc Márquez, but we need not look further for his model, as evidenced by his words collected by Marianna Giannoni for Corsedimoto.com.

Izan Guevara : " I celebrated a little with everyone: friends, family and the team. However, the most exciting party was in Rimini because all the world champions were present. It was an incredible evening and I am very happy to have participated with all the stars of international motorcycling. The best moment of my life was obviously in Australia, when I crossed the finish line and won the world championship. It was an unforgettable moment ! Before the race, Marquez came to me and told me that in Thailand he saw me a little nervous and that I should stay calm. I replied that it was normal because I was playing in the World Championship. He told me that I had to enjoy this moment, that everything would be fine and then I would just have to let it ride. Yes, he is my idol but my driving style resembles that of Pecco Bagnaia »

And when we ask him if Marc Márquez will return to its previous level, the answer is clear… “ Yes I think so. He will return to what he was before his injuries. »

Izan Guevara so there is still time. Still in the structure of Jorge “Aspar” Martinez, he will participate in the Moto2 World Championship in 2023, where he will find a certain Peter Acosta.
