Lucio Cecchinello

The LCR MotoGP team, led by Lucio Cecchinello, is expected to remain a Honda satellite until 2031. A loyal partner since 2006, LCR is banking on Johann Zarco and the new 2027 rules to revive Honda.

I wish the entire LCR MotoGPLed by Lucio Cecchinello, will continue to evolve as a satellite of Honda at the dawn of the new technical era planned for 2027, according to revelations published in crash.net. Present in the premier category since 2006, LCR has a long-standing relationship with Honda, started during the rookie season of Casey Stoner, and confirmed by historic victories with Cal Crutchlow (2016, 2018) and alex rins (2023)

« Our contract with HRC expired at the end of 2024 ", has explained Cecchinello. " But we already renewed the contract last winter for the next two years, 2025 and 2026.. » An additional agreement, conditional on the approval of Dorna for the next regulatory period, is also ready: " We also have an agreement with HRC for 2027, but it will not come into force that after LCR Racing has been accepted by Dorna for the MotoGP years after 2027 »

LCR Honda: a guaranteed place until 2031?

LCR is therefore aiming for a guaranteed place on the MotoGP grid until 2031, subject to validation by Dorna, as part of the new cycle of five-year contracts. The next agreement, which will cover 2027 to 2031, will accompany a technical revolution in the category: passage from 1cc to 000cc, reduction of aerodynamics and banning of level correction devices.

Despite difficult seasons for Honda, the beginning of 2025 shows signs of progress. The LCR pilot Johann zarco is currently Honda's best representative, 7th in General classification with 43 points, and often the fastest of the HRC drivers.

« Zarco scored Honda's first top-5 finish since 2023 at the Qatar Grand Prix ", recalls the team boss. The continuity of LCR with Honda therefore represents an essential strategic base for the Japanese manufacturer's ambitions in the next MotoGP cycle.
