Last October, the news caused a stir. Before long, the Brazilian Grand Prix would return to the motorcycle Grand Prix calendar. The motorcycle Grands Prix would be on the return to Brazil. The Rio Motorsports (RMS) brand is taking care of the subject and a new track called Rio Motorpark, would be ready to be built in Deodoro. Even the government of Brazil, with Bolsonaro in the lead, had announced its intention to move the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix from Interlagos to this new track, in Rio. But the promoters of the said Grand Prix are openly opposed to the abandonment of the historic Brazilian route.

Parts dating from when the Deodoro military base was dismantled, located in the area of the future circuit. The problem is that this land was a minefield and when it was decommissioned, not all the mines would have exploded…
Data from this report suggests that the “clearing” which took place between 2014 and 2015, before the 2016 Olympic Games, located in the same area, found a total of 167 mines, all neutralized. However, operator limitations regarding equipment and search techniques prevented successful recording of all areas of Deodoro.
