Casey Stoner left his indelible mark on the microcosm of MotoGP. He won the world crown twice, one with Ducati in 2007 and the second with Honda in 2011 before bidding farewell to the Motorcycle Grands Prix in 2012. Twelve years of career winning races, losing some, but also to suffer in one's flesh...

In a recent interview, the 27-year-old Australian said he suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome which prevents him from doing any sporting activity, whether it's racing a motorcycle, driving a go-kart or worse, go archery.

« I haven't been out in over a year. I don't have the energy to leave the house anymore. I don't have the energy to go out for a day. I haven't gone karting in several months or even done archery in at least 10 months. I am no longer physically able to do the things I enjoy. It’s a bit frustrating” entrusts the champion.

He pursues : " this chronic fatigue prevents me from staying in shape. My ribs and vertebrae cause me a lot of pain, causing me to severe back pain. »

From January 2018, after the Sepang tests, Casey Stoner deserted the Red box Ducati where he was serving as a test pilot, the pain becoming difficult to bear. The alert had already been sounded in 2009, when the driver was called sick for two races because of these same ailments.

« Since January 2018 after the Sepang test, I have not been back on a motorcycle. I went back just a few weeks ago, when I was in the United States, on my birthday, for an Alpinestars event I attended », Explains the driver from Southport. “ We went there cool with the guys, but it quickly called me to order”, he adds.

The double MotoGP World Champion admits, however, that in recent months, he has experienced a slight improvement in this ailment which is gnawing at him. However, the goal of resuming possible training is not for tomorrow. “ I'm taking new medications but I'm not yet about to start doing any sports again, going out and doing things. On the contrary, I stay on the couch for several days. It’s a situation that is also difficult for my wife to live with.” concludes the former teammate of Dani Pedrosa.
