Takaaki Nakagami is one of the good surprises of this start of the season. His consistency over the weekends commands respect and allows him to secure a future with the winged brand. His race at the French Grand Prix was far from easy, but a seventh place finish gives him the possibility of remaining well placed in the championship.

« It was such a difficult race. » These were the words of Takaaki Nakagami in a press conference after the race. It must be said that the changing conditions did not help mechanical preparation, but also mental preparation. The Japanese returned to this point at length after lowering the checkered flag on the Bugatti circuit:
«  We had prepared for the race, then the rain came and there was a delay. After a few minutes the track was completely wet. We then prepared for the wet focus on another bike and it was so tricky. But the main thing is that we managed to finish such a difficult race, so I'm quite happy. »

His running pace, which he described as “ good », assured him of appearing before a Stefan bradl very leggy. Unfortunately for him, the degradation of the tires at the end of the race was far from beneficial.

“We had good pace – especially at the end of the race – but we struggled when the track dried out, but we were faster and so close to the lead group. At the end of the last three laps the rear tire was overheating a lot and spinning a lot on the main straight, so it was difficult to hold position. »

Thanks to this honorable result, his incredible series of top 10 finishes continues, his ninth in a row. Between this and fifth place in the championship, there is no doubt that the Japanese could claim a podium before the end of the season. While thanking his team, he keeps the positives from this day and leaves confidently for the Aragón Grand Prix.

« Our performance wasn't good enough throughout the weekend, but at the end of the race we were quite competitive. Now we're looking forward to two races in Aragón and it's good to see that we are fifth in the championship, it's another positive energy. »

Keep an eye on Takaaki Nakagami. This could well be the sixteenth different driver to be applauded on the podiums this year.
