Sumi

They are not the only ones but in these times of travel restrictions due to the coronavirus, Yamaha's Japanese engineers are staying in Andorra between Grands Prix.

This is due to the central position of the principality located within reach of Spain, France and Italy.

On Monday, like many drivers who live in the same place, they carried out their PCR test which is valid for only 96 hours, otherwise entry to the paddock is prohibited.

Unfortunately, this time, one of the engineers tested positive on Tuesday, although asymptomatic.

As a result, it is the six engineers, who always travel in groups, who are forced to miss the French Grand Prix at Le Mans, including the MotoGP Project Leader Takahiro Sumi.

They will, however, be able to work remotely via modern teleworking means, a somewhat shaky solution while waiting for Yamaha to send other engineers from Japan.

As we begin three consecutive races, the least we can say is that this is bad news for Iwata's men, even if these engineers do not work directly in one of the two teams, but are involved in the entire MotoGP project!

In the middle of next week it will be decided whether this group can participate in the Aragon GP (October 16-18) in Spain.
