The three Grand Prix categories have chosen, for cost reasons and so that sport is the dominant value in the pelotons, to opt for as much unique equipment as possible, shared by all. So it is with the electronic box, but before that, there were the tires. Michelin officiates in the flagship discipline, while Dunlop takes care of the intermediate races. A new decision had to be made for a lease until 2023. And here it is…

It is stability that has been favored in a situation where it is better to count on what you have than to attempt adventure. So, Dunlop will remain the only tire supplier Moto2 et Moto3 until 2023. This contract extension allows intermediate classes to remain on the rubber Dunlop for at least three more seasons. A satisfaction for Dorna Sports which builds the loyalty of a partner known since the start of the world championship in 1949.

Dunlop has been in the 250cc and 125cc categories, with 17 250cc titles to its name, and its commitment to continued success in the intermediate categories led it to become the sole supplier of tires to Moto2 and Moto3 in their early days.

Moto2 replaced the 250cc world championship as an intermediate category in 2010. Moto3 succeeded the 125cc world championship as a lightweight category two years later, in 2012.

Dunlop also supports the stars of tomorrow, supplying tires for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup, Honda British Talent Cup and Northern Talent Cup, playing a vital role on the road to MotoGP.

A cornerstone of the success of both categories

Ben Hoge, Managing Director of Dunlop Motorcycle Europe commented on this loyalty: “ We are delighted to extend our partnership with Dorna Sports to remain the exclusive tire supplier to the Moto2 and Moto3 world championships for at least three more years. Both series are an integral part of Dunlop Motorsport's business and enable us to develop technology for our growing range of road and track tires. Dorna Sports has an excellent platform to find and support the star drivers of tomorrow and we are happy to be part of it"

Paul Serracanta, Managing Director of Dorna Sports added: “ We are delighted to announce that Dunlop will remain the tire supplier for the Moto2 and Moto3 categories, extending our partnership until 2023. Dunlop has been the cornerstone of the incredible success of Moto2 and Moto3 from the beginning, and the results speak for themselves as we continue to witness spectacular racing every weekend. I hope we will make a new page of history together over the next three years at least"
