This is certainly not a surprise, but it is already recorded on the Grand Site website from Hervé Poncharal's MotoGP team: Exit Red Bull KTM Tech3, welcome to Tech3 KTM Factory Racing!
For internal reasons which have nothing to do with the performance of the Bormes-les-Mimosas team, which has largely exceeded its objectives with already two victories to its credit, Red Bull will no longer appear on the KTMs of Danilo Petrucci et Iker Lecuona this season. In the paddock, it is rumored that the representatives of the energy drink do not appreciate that KTM uses riders not necessarily from the Red Bull inner circle. In “retaliation”, therefore, gone is the blue color on the “French” RC16s, replaced by the orange dear to the Mattighofen brand.
The drivers' leathers, boxes, trucks and team clothing will also be revised accordingly (predominantly orange for the trucks and leathers, black for the technicians' clothing).
Red Bull is not disappearing from the French structure, however, the energy drink still being very present in Moto3, but also in MotoGP where it still has a secondary contract with the drivers (can in the parc ferme, for example).
Note the new name “Factory Racing” emphasizing in the logo the equity of the resources made available to Tech3…
The official presentation of the KTM teams should take place around February 12 in Austria but this obviously remains dependent on the evolution of the pandemic.
