During the WSBK round in Misano, the Ducati factory team surprised everyone by fielding two yellow Panigale V4Rs on the track, rather than the traditional red. A reference to the history of the brand which will be recalled during the San Marino Grand Prix, still in Misano, but on the Desmosedici GP23 MotoGP.

The last weekend, Ducati displayed a special yellow livery on its two official machines in homage to some of its historic motorcycles from the 1970s. Unveiled before the start of Race 1 by representatives of the Aruba.it Racing team on the machines ofÁlvaro Bautista and Michael Ruben Rinaldi, the yellow livery pays homage to certain emblematic models of the Borgo Panigale brand, including the 750 Sport or the 750 SS Desmo from the 1970s, before yellow gained popularity in the 1990s.

The Ducati 916, 996, 749, 999 and 1199 all sported the yellow livery. Pierfrancesco Chilli drove the yellow 998 RS and triumphed in 2004 at Misano with a yellow livery, Paul Casoli led a race on a yellow Ducati in 1996 at Hockenheim, Steve Martin piloted it in 2004 and Lorenzo Lanzi won a race in Valencia in 2008 on a yellow Ducati.

« Ducati is red, but yellow is also ours »

A celebration which will not be the only one this season since Ducati announced that on the occasion of the San Marino Grand Prix MotoGP scheduled for September 8-10, the factory drivers' Desmosedici GP23 will also shine in yellow.

« Ducati is red, but yellow is also ours and it is an important tradition in Italian motorcycle sport ", said Andrea Ferrarese, director of Centro Stile Ducati. “ This color reflects important aspects of our identity such as energy, enthusiasm and boldness. The special look expresses the pride of being Ducatisti and it’s a beautiful tribute to our sporting history in the season where we compete as world champions in the two most important motorcycle series ».
