The gaps between teammates at the end of the MotoGP season are an indicator monitored...

It's a constant in all sports: your first opponent is your teammate. An internal ranking that can define policies and choices through an influence that must be conquered and constantly confirmed. In 2020, there have been some turnarounds on this front within the most prominent teams, with sometimes abysmal gaps that stand out. Finally, the cold balance sheet can also undermine the impressions left. Here is the points verdict…

Teammates within a team have more or less the same equipment. Which means that a defeat, in this fratricidal struggle, has serious meanings. In 2020, the season MotoGP delivered this ranking in this particular review. It will be listed from the largest discrepancy observed to the least significant…

From there, it's the factory team Yamaha which opens the ball. With a Casa Particular in Viñales having garnered 132 points for a sixth final position and a Valentino Rossi with only 66 units which place it anonymously fifteenth in the ranking, the Iwata firm makes the splits. In 2021, we will have to rebalance the game, and there will be a new driver for that alongside the Spaniard, in this case fabio quartararo.

We then find Ducati who regrets a distance of 57 points between its driver duo. Andrea Dovizioso marked 135 units against 78 à Danilo Petrucci. The first city is fourth in the championship while the last finishes twelfth. Both will no longer be on the red bikes in 2021. Ducati will therefore start from a blank slate.

KTM follows with his two residents that 48 points separate. It is a victory for Pol Espargaro who won nothing on the RC16 unlike the beaten one Brad Binder whose 25 resounding points taken in Brno count a lot in its capital of 87 points. His eldest was more regular with a harvest of 135 units which puts him fifth in the championship. The South African misses the top 10 since eleventh but he is still designated as the rookie of the year.

Petronas teammates are the least distant

Second place goes to Suzuki including the pilot Joan Mir is World Champion with 171 points scored. His teammate alex rins is third in the championship with 139 points so that the beautiful duo of Davide Brivio is grouped into 32 points.

This classification ends with the colors Petronas Yamaha who has scored six times this season. The two drivers each have three achievements, but their fate was very different. So, Franco Morbidelli gained the upper hand fabio quartararo by capitalizing 158 points against only 127 in French. The differential is therefore 31 points. But in the general classification, the consequences are more telling: Franco Morbidelli is thus vice-world champion while fabio quartararo is eighth.
