Initially scheduled for Jerez, the Moto2 and Moto3 off-season tests will take place in Qatar, alongside MotoGP. This is enough to reassure a alex rins who expressed his doubts about launching the 2021 campaign on the Losail route…

It's official: the pre-season test Moto2 et Moto3 will take place at Qatar. The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports announce a change of location for the 2021 pre-season test of the intermediate Grand Prix categories. Previously scheduled at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, the test will now take place at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar.

The test will take place from 19 at 21 March. The Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup will also be on track for pre-season testing on the same days and each category will have its own sessions as part of the three-day test.

Qatar as a fallback base in the face of the pandemic

The change of location for the Moto2 and Moto3 was agreed to create the safest and most efficient pre-season testing program possible for the FIM World Championship MotoGP, minimizing the travel necessary for each category and ensuring that the first two Grands Prix of the season can take place in complete safety. Sanitary, of course. bodes well for the launch of the season on a site which will host the first two 2021 Grands Prix.
